Fertility Pro is an EMR and cloud-based software solution that streamlines the IVF process. Designed with a clinic-centric approach, the software integrates seamlessly across patient engagement, clinical management, and laboratory operations. By combining these essential modules, Fertility Pro empowers healthcare providers to optimize treatment plans, enhance patient experience, and improve overall clinical outcomes.

The Goal

Design a platform that simplifies the intended parents’ experience, empowers the fertility physicians with the right information at the right time, and improves communication between clinics and labs. Every aspect of the product is designed to minimize the patient's stress and keep their expectations in the right place. 

Three different platforms were created to cover each group of users, Patient Portal for intended parents, Clinic Portal for physicians and nurses, and Lab Portal for lab technicians.

The Problem

 

1- For intended parents users

  • The intended parents are full of emotional stress. Furthermore, they have to gather a lot of information and then fill all the forms by hand. This is a very time-consuming process.

  • At the beginning of the process, patients do not have an idea of how long the whole process takes, they have many doubts and uncertainties.

2- For physicians and nurses users

  • Fertilization physicians and nurses need constant access to patient medical and personal information.

  • Clinic users require tools to help them maintain order and easy access to patient information.

3- For laboratory technicians users

  • The lab users need to be in continuous communication with clinic users. They have to send all the test results to the physicians and nurses. 

  • Normally, the fertilization tests contain a lot of data to collect, and they have to be repeated several times throughout each treatment.

 

The Solution

 

Patient Portal

To minimize their stress and keep the expectation in the right place.

  • To minimize the emotional stress in the intended parents, we focus on reducing their efforts. Creating a better way to fill all the forms, giving them spaces to gather all the necessary information, and offering them a tool that allows to complete the forms from home.

  • In order to keep the user's expectation in the right place, we give them a complete view of the process and display timely information in each step of the treatment.

Clinic Portal

To give the right information in the right moment. 

  • To empower the physicians and nurses with the medical patient information, we created tools to help them manage all the data about the patient.

  • This portal gives an easier and more organized way to access that information at whatever time they need it. 

  • All the data was centralized in one place to keep order and easy access.

Lab Portal

A user-friendly way to enter test results data and constant communication with clinic users.

  • Eliminates redundant data entry and enables direct transmission of test requests and results.

  • In order to create a user-friendly product for the Lab user, we kept the consistency of the vocabulary they had used in their published paper about patient data.

  • We figured out a better way to gather the data for the test results was a wizard component. It allows the user to enter the data in an organized way and let them know how many steps there are in that process.

 

My Work

I was one of 3 UX/UI designers on an agile team of 5 developers, a QA, a product owner and scrum master. I was responsible along with my partner for determining the overall design direction of the project and creating the users' experiences. I performed activities such as the creation of users' flow, wireframing, building of the Design System, user interface design, and prototyping.

As a part of the Ingenious team, I collaborated in Fertility PRO project.
